Spokeo Rental Agreement
Updated July 25, 2025
Before You Ride...
Welcome to Spokeo! We're stoked to help you find awesome bikes and gear from local riders in your area.
Before you hit the road or trail, take a moment to read through this Rental Agreement. It lays out what you’re responsible for when renting, how to keep gear safe, and a few legal things to keep everyone protected — you, the gear owner, and us here at Spokeo.
It's all pretty straightforward, and reading it now helps avoid surprises later. You will need to agree to this before your rental starts.
Thanks for riding responsibly and being part of the Spokeo community!
1. Who’s Who
- Renter: That’s you. The person renting the bike or gear.
- Host: The person who owns the bike or gear you’re renting.
- Spokeo, LLC: We run the platform that connects renters and hosts. We facilitate the rental and handle payments.
2. By Accepting This Agreement, You Agree That:
- You accept full responsibility for the bike and/or gear you rent.
- You are using it at your own risk.
- You are physically capable of safely using the equipment.
- You will follow all applicable laws and ride responsibly.
- You will return the gear in the same condition it was received (minus normal wear and tear).
- You understand that Spokeo and the Host are not responsible for injuries, accidents, or damages.
3. What You Agree To as a Renter
Ride Responsibly
You won’t ride under the influence, ride recklessly, or let anyone else use the gear unless it’s explicitly designed for multiple riders (e.g., tandem or cargo bikes). You’re responsible for making sure the bike fits you properly. Use common sense and be safe.
Keep it Secure
You are fully responsible for the gear during your rental. Bikes are a major target for theft — locks only slow down thieves; they don’t stop them.
Never leave the bike unattended in public, even briefly, and never store it outside overnight, even if it’s locked.
When you're not actively riding, the safest option is to bring the bike indoors or keep it in a locked, enclosed space.
If the gear is stolen or vandalized during your rental, you are responsible for the full replacement value.
Return On Time
Return the gear at the agreed time and place. Late returns may incur fees, including full replacement costs if not returned within 24 hours of the scheduled return time.
Damage and Loss
You are responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to the gear during your rental period.
If the gear is damaged beyond reasonable repair, you may be responsible for its fair market replacement value.
Normal wear and tear is okay — bent wheels and cracked frames are not.
Repairs
You may replace a flat tube or tire if needed. Otherwise, do not perform any repairs or modifications.
If anything breaks, notify the Host immediately.
Know the Risks
Biking involves real risks. You could be injured or worse. You understand and accept these risks, and you release Spokeo and the Host from any liability related to injury, death, or property damage.
4. Legal Terms
Assumption of Risk
You assume all risks involved in using the gear. That includes injury, property damage, and any accident — whether it’s your fault or not.
Release of Liability
You release and hold harmless the Host and Spokeo from any claims related to injury, damage, or loss that occurs while you're renting or using the gear.
Indemnification
If someone sues Spokeo or the Host because of something you did while using the gear, you agree to cover the costs.
Disputes & Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of Washington State. Any legal disputes must be filed in a court located in Washington State.
5. Final Notes
- The gear remains the property of the Host at all times.
- Spokeo may charge your payment method for any applicable fees, including damage, theft, or late returns.
- We may update this agreement from time to time.
When you rent through Spokeo, you’re agreeing to this Rental Agreement — thanks for riding responsibly and helping keep our community rolling!
