  TLDR: Bike was great for the price, but was unprepared for it plug-and-play use. Discussed with host, who will make changes based on feedback. Would rent again. The Good: Overall the bike was great! It got me where I wanted to go without issue. Breaks were solid, shifters were solid enough (slight misalignment in rear shifter, was unable to shift to lowest gear), lightweight, and tires solid (it didn’t rain so can’t vouch for them when it’s wet). I rode over 70km one day and didn’t have any issues. I wouldn’t do serious road biking on it, but for $15 a day that’s not what I was looking for. I wanted to tour the city on two wheels and for that is was a fantastic experience. Host was also very responsive and pick-up/drop-off was seamless. The Bad: The bike was not properly prepared for plug-and-play use. Thankfully I had the foresight to bring all my tools and a pump. The tires were slightly deflated and the seat was too low, and it wasn’t quick release adjustable so without my multi tool I wouldn’t have been unable to move it. Honestly, you should never go on any substantial bike ride without a multi-tool or pump, so this is a very minor issue to me. The biggest issue was that the chain was dry, probably hadn’t been greased this season. So for the first day I was clacking and grinding my way through Seattle. I got lucky that there was a stray bottle of bike lube at the hostel I was staying at, because otherwise I would have had to deal with it for the full three days, which would have been very frustrating. Overall, the bike is a 4/5. Given the price I don’t really have much right to complain and all the issues I was able to sort out on my own or weren’t that major. This is seemingly the hosts first time renting so I’m definitely giving them the benefit of the doubt with this review, as the issues I experienced are not that severe and can be easily fixed for the next renter. Would definitely rent this bike again when I’m back in town!
